About Sarah Eastway
Sarah is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has training and work experience in providing therapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups. After completing her Masters of Science of Counseling at California State University, Sacramento, she started out in public mental health where she had the opportunity to work with people from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds, and who experienced a myriad of symptoms and diagnoses. Having transitioned to private agency settings, Sarah continues to coordinate care as needed with community organizations, prescribing psychiatrists, primary care physicians, etc. Sarah pulls from a variety of therapeutic techniques to tailor the counseling experience for each client. For some it is exploring identity or deepening faith in order to find meaning and purpose. For others it is learning to reduce and overcome obstacles to improve functioning and resiliency, or perhaps wading through grief one step at a time together.
While Sarah enjoys working on a vast assortment of counseling issues, she is especially passionate about helping people through identity issues. These can occur during many different seasons of life – adolescence, a quarter-life crisis after college, midlife exploration of meaning and purpose, or transitioning through retirement, divorce, etc. She also has professional experience with women-related issues such as postpartum issues, miscarriages, low libido, sexual pain, and the juggling act of work, kids, marriage, and self-care.
Sarah lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with her husband and children. She loves trying new things, sharing life with friends and family, and being involved in the community. Sarah is interested in holistic health and is convinced many people underestimate the interactions between physical, mental, and spiritual health. For example, she believes exercise helps her mental health as much as her physical health, and her spiritual quiet times reduce her levels of worry and stress. If blessed with alone time, Sarah enjoys listening to music, being outdoors, painting, reading, watching shows, and believes napping is one of the greatest wonders of the world!
